What is Global Recycling Day?
Global Recycling Day was created in 2018 to help raise awareness of the importance of recycling to preserve the natural resources of our planet, the mission of this movement was set out by the Global Recycling Foundation as:
- Communicate to the world leaders the importance of recycling, to urgently create a unified approach to recycling
- To encourage people to think creatively about the potential of repurposing waste and celebrating recycled goods, to rethink resources, not waste when it comes to the goods around us
The theme this year is #RecyclingHeroes, highlighting the people, activities, and places that play such a significant role in creating a greener future for all of us.
"Recycling is a key part of the circular economy, helping to protect our natural resources. Each year the ‘Seventh Resource’ (recyclables) saves over 700 million tonnes in CO2 emissions and this is projected to increase to 1 billion tons by 2030. There is no doubt recycling is on the front line in the war to save the future of our planet and humanity" - Global Recycling Day
How can we be more green?
Over the past few years, climate change has been a hot topic in the media, tv shows, and on social channels, but what can we do as individuals to help?
For this year's Global Recycling Day, Friday 18 March 2022, at RHINO we are thinking about how we can help reduce our carbon footprint in the home by recycling our used stationery, in particular our school exercise books, office notebooks, and everyday notepads.
We love these 5 ways you can be a #RecyclingHero, from fun DIY projects for the kids to tips to organise your home.
Did you know you could be buying recycled already?
Our manilla exercise book covers are produced in the UK and 100% recycled, they are a reused by-product which is a great way to reuse, reduce and recycle!
